Player Testimonials

As a five year veteran in the AFL, I have seen this league grow to great heights and still continuing to grow into a power house league everyone wants to join. Unable to continue my journey in football after high school due to a family emergency, I was fortunate enough to find this league to satisfy the urge to get back on the field. With a whole nw style of play and adjusting from an 11 on 11 to arena style football, I was able to learn and love the game quickly. Many thanks to the owner Abe Hernandez, Executive Director Bob Lee and the rest of the AFL staff for making this league possible for all those who would've lost hope for football here in the state of Alaska. - Alex Navarro

Player Testimonials

Coming into this league as a highly motivated Rookie, the first thing I knew I had to do was understand how the game is played. My mother always told me , "In order to be successful at something you must obtain some type of knowledge of it" and I have lived by that saying all my life. With that being said, I had to get mentally ready and adjust my playing style very quickly and my coaches and team-mates helped me get there. However, my overall experiences with this league has been nothing but positive remarks, we play on TV, we have statisticians, and photographers, and great sponsors. This league is by far the best league I played in as far as preparing guys for the next level such as the AFL, CFL, and college. I see nothing but success in in the future and I am glad to be a member of this organization. Lastly, I would like to give a big thanks to the owners Abe, Bob, AFL Staff, and the sponsors who have supported this operation. -Kevin Brown

Player Testimonials

There's no "I" in team! When I was a young boy my dad told me to be "the man of the house" in which I took very seriously! It took an effect on me to which I became very independent! (I)... Being a quarterback I love the fact that the game is in my hands which can be conducive to and/or polarizing to true the other men around me! Joining the Valley Steelers and with this mindset, I quickly learned this was not the recipe for success! Life is a "team sport," whether it be on the battle field or the grid iron (often the same)! Not just that I'm obligated to true my teammates, but they're relying on me to do so! Through the tryouts, practices, games, and through out life; it takes a group of individuals with a common goal or mindset, each doing their part and believing the man next to you will do the same! Im so grateful to Jesus, Abe Hernandez, Bob Lee, and Dan Moore, Delvin Miles, ECT.... For giving me the opportunity to be apart of something BIGGER than my myself! (WE) THERE'S NO (I) IN TEAM! - Kevin Bembry

Player Testimonials

I have completed my second full year with the Alaska Football League. In the two years there has been an exponential growth with the players and staff. This league has put an emphasis upon bringing the community together through the sport and volunteer opportunities. It gives players like myself another chance to those who do not have the ability or opportunity to play the next level. As for myself I am currently a full-time student at UAA pursuing a Major in Dietetics Nutrition at UAA. I did not have the capability or skill set to play the next level football at other colleges. This league is built for players like myself to improve their skills and to play the next level of football. As personal note I would like to thank the Eagle River Broncos Coaching Staff, primarily Coach Beckwith and Coach Easterwood for their time and effort, as well as our team sponsors. I would also like to personally thank to Delvin Myles for his time and effort for working with me throughout the season to improve my skills. Another big thanks to Red Robin for the sponsorship with the league, especially to the Dimond Red Robin Management for their support on working with my school and football schedule. Last and not least, I would also would to specifically thank the Alaska Football League, Abe Hernandez and Bob Lee for giving all of us players the opportunity and the privilege to play in a league like this. Overall, the Alaska Football League is a great way to know the community, improve your skills, and to play in best football league that there is in Alaska. - Marcel Hollis
